Well, we're finally behind evicted from Yahoo Groups and at very short notice. Big thanks are due to Stephen Pimley for setting up this new forum; it's ostensibly a pilot but so far it seems like a fine solution, especially for a free platform.
I've been administrating the Yahoo Group for the past 8 years or more. Prior to that, Mike Auton set up and ran it. When I joined in 2009, the real-life Corribee Owners' Association was more or less defunct.
Ever since mulling the idea of Corribee ownership, I have found the repository of knowledge extremely valuable, and the advice and support from members has been a huge help.
The writing has been on the wall for Yahoo Groups for a few years now. I believe it is important to preserve the knowledge built up through this forum, and I personally feel that it is worthwhile continuing with a threaded forum of this nature. Over time, this builds a rich knowledge base, the entire contents of which are available as soon as a member joins.
My initial focus has been on securing the data from the original Yahoo group. I'm well on the way to doing so, and am confident that I will be able to share it here. It will take a little time, as I am very caught up with personal and work commitments. However, while I've been busy securing the historical data, Stephen has kindly taken the initiative to create this board. Like any new tool or interface, it will take a bit of getting used to, just to navigate and test the functionality. For posting messages, it's pretty much there, bar a bit of tweaking. Other functionality will take a little time, but if the interest is there we can build a nice new home.
Now, here's where you come in. We need your feedback. Please play around, check that you can navigate, view and post. Try on different devices, PC, phone, tablet. Introduce yourself. What's working, and what's not? Visit your Settings, and set up notifications as you prefer (powerful tool). Let us know if you've found the forum useful. If so, please engage actively in this forum on its new platform. If you have specific expertise or experience of this or other suitable tools (threaded, searchable forums), your ideas would be very welcome. You can also use the private message functionality, of course.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed so generously to the Yahoo Group throughout the years, and looking forward to enjoying the contributed support of Corribee enthusiasts. I'm still struggling with that rudder problem.
